Venture Summer Program

Our next meeting will be May 21st

We are having Ultimate Frisbee in the park followed by a pool party at the Smith's house on Sun., May 25 during Memorial Day Weekend. Let us know if you are planning on coming.

I have attached a few flyers for a few upcoming venture activities: (See above)

There are venture activities coming up this summer that look like a lot of fun. There is a weekend in June from the 13-15th and then a whole week in August, 10-16th. You can go for the whole week or just a day. More information is on the attached pamphlet.

There is also a meeting this Sunday night to help plan both of these events. They are looking for teens to contribute their ideas to make these summer activities as fun as possible. I have attached the flyer with the address and time.

And for anyone who is interested, there is a nation-wide photography contest open to members of Venture Crew. I have attached a flyer with the rules and directions.

Do we want to plan a SCUBA trip? Who is interested?

Rock climbing - we are trying to set up a joint activity with Crew 21 and Crew 99. We seem to be available on most weekends with a conflict here or there. Mrs. Cheryl Hamm, please let us know what dates are good for everyone.

Midnight bowling - will be set up sometime in May. Do you have any preferences?

We have decided to raise funds for the Venture Crew by having a bake sale one weekend after all of the masses. Volunteers are needed to bake the goods and sell them after mass.

Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at 7pm at the Smith's house. Please attend whenever you can.

The Venturing Summit this year will be at Ockanickon June 13-15th. It will be for the whole Northeast Region Area II. I'm not quite sure who that includes, but the bottom line is that we will have to get registrations in early. Daryl is supposed to get us the approximate costs this week.
There will be a week of Summer Camp at Ockanickon this summer. The dates are August 10-16th. The activities and costs have not been planned yet. They *might* include things like tubing, sailing, equestrian or other more "high adventure" activities. Price has also not been stated, but regular camp (no extra $ activities) is about $300. The question was asked if we could participate in a partial week (or just for specific activities)…and Daryl said that it was a definite possibility.
Bucks County Council Camporee will be at Washington Crossing State Park (PA Side) from September 19-21st . They are expecting over 2000 people (no typo). Some ideas for Venturing activities from the group included Frisbee Golf, Ultimate and Mountain Biking. This is a Cub Scout thru Venturing event.
Sea Base (2009) - Contact Bruce Bintliff if interested. ($$ Big Bucks for this trip $$) - Bruce; please post any updates you have to this group.
Crew 99 is planning to have another sports/games night in the April or May timeframe.
Crew 21 is still planning on putting together an indoor climbing event - tentatively scheduled for March 2nd. Will either be at Rockville (Trenton) or Doylestown. Stay tuned for more details.
